Lesson 42: Verbos modales (I): "Can"
I can play tennis - Yo puedo j ugar al tenis
He can open the window - El puede abrir la ventana
El verbo "can" no tiene infinitivo (no existe "to can"); tan sólo tiene presente ("can") y pasado ("could"). Para construir el futuro se utiliza la combinación "to be able" (ser capaz) en su forma futura.
I can listen music - Yo puedo oír música
I could listen music - Yo podía oír música
I will be able to listen music - Yo podré oír música
Asimismo, para formar los tiempos compuestos y continuos, hay que recurrir igualmente a la combinación "to be able" en sus tiempos respectivos.
Present perfect - I have been able to listen music
Present continuous - I am being able to listen music
Past perfect - I had been able to listen music
La forma negativas de "can" en presente es "can not" (o su abreviada "can't") y en pasado "could not" (o su abreviada "couldn't").
I can not go to the party - Yo no puedo ir a la fiesta
She couldn't carry the suitcase - Ella no podía llevar la maleta.
En las frases interrogativas "can" se coloca al comienzo de la interrogación, con una estructura similar a la que vimos para los verbos "to be" y "to have".
Can you come with us ? - ¿ Puedes tú venir con nosotros ?
Could she finish her work ? - ¿ Pudo ella finalizar su trabajo ?

Lesson 32: Question tags
Do you want coffee - Don't you ?
You have seen the film - Haven´t you ?
You like coffee - Don´t you ?
You can help me - Can not you ?
He is clever - Isn´t he ?
It is very cold - Isn´t it ?
She like this film - Doesn´t she ?
They came too visit us - Didn´t they ?
Y una "question tag" afirmativa tras una negación:
It isn´t very cold - Is it ?
She doesn't like this film - Does she ?
They didn´t come to visit us - Didn´t they ?
She will come later - Won´t she ?
She will come later - Won´t she ?
You don´t have the newspaper - Do you ?
They don´t want to go to the cinema - Do they ?
Ejercicios:
Añadir la "question tag"

Lesson 31: Respuestas y Preguntas cortas
Do you want coffee ? - Yes, I do
Have you seen the film ? - Yes, I have
Are you going to the cinema ? - Yes, I am
Did you go to Paris ? - Yes, I did
Had he read the book ? - Yes, he had
It is very cold - Is it ?
I like this film - Do you ?
They come to visit us - Do they ?
I like this film - So do I
I don't like this film - Neither do I
He went to London - So did I
He didn´'t go to London - Neither did I
Ejercicios:
Contestar utilizando la forma corta
Have you been in Madrid ? .........................................................
Did you read the book ? .........................................................
Are you going with me ? .........................................................

Do you want to come with us later ? .........................................................

Lesson 30: Forma pasiva
The match is played - El partido es jugado
The house is built - La casa es construida
The book is read - El libro es leído
The boy is combed - El niño es peinado
The girl is combed - La niña es peinada
The children are combed - Los niños son peinados
This boy is combed by his mother - Este niño es peinado por su madre
The book is read by my sister - El libro es leído por mi hermana
The dinner is cooked by the husband - La cena es preparada por el marido
Forma activa Forma pasiva
I watch this program This program is watched by me
I cleaned my car The car was cleaned by me
You have read this book This book has been read by you
I watch my hands - My hands are watched by me
I watched my hands - My hands were watched by me
I will watch my hands - My hands will be watched by me
I am watching my hands - My hands are being watched by me
